Availability: Iced Coffee Weather (Summer Seasonal - Starts June 1)

ABV: 5.3%

We start with a brown Mexican lager to compliment the coffee of choice, Nicaragua (beans from the La Fem Grower's Co-operative, roasted by Just Coffee of Madison.) We include flaked maize both for added creaminess and to appease the sun gods. Extra-warm fermentation lets the yeast create more interesting flavors (the California-common effect, or "Vapor Beer", if you speak Beer-Spanglish.) Hop bitterness is increased to offset the sweet flavor of un-brewed coffee. Whole beans are soaked in the beer during cold maturation - the alcohol extracts and retains aromatics that would otherwise be lost to hot water. 15 degrees Plato; 37 IBU's

Twin Cities folks diggin' Oscura!

Can't find a beloved beer? Try these Wisconsin-made brews - 09/26/13

Oscura is a crisp lager, almost as hoppy as Coffee Bender. Coffee is added via a cold extraction process, which leaves that bitterness out of the picture. It's easy-drinking enough to please a diverse crowd; it was my beer of choice for my wedding reception. Furthermore has increased production on this seasonal since its introduction, making it a pretty easy find at your favorite quality beer retailer.
